Birzebbuga – a small resort town on the southeastern coast of Malta, in St. George's Bay. The population is 8668 people. The former fishing village eventually turned into a popular summer resort in Malta.

Among the historical sights of the city are the following:

Ar-Dalam Cave

The huge Ar-Dalam cave is 150 meters deep. It once served as a parking lot for primitive people, about 7.5 thousand years ago. Fossilized bones of ancient animals have been found here, for example, dwarf deer, elephants and hippos.

Fort of St. Lucian

It consists of a large tower and a polygonal fortification. The tower got its name in honor of the church in France, in which Grandmaster Alof de Wignacourt was baptized.

Marsaxlokk

The embankment is considered the heart of Marsashlokk. There are market rows here, the most fashionable and interesting restaurants are located here, the menu of which always contains seafood and fish. The main facade of the main temple of the city – the Church of Our Lady of Pompeii — overlooks the embankment.

Delimara Fort

Birzebbuga Beaches

  • Pretty Bay means "Beautiful beach", which fully justifies its name. The beach is artificial — fine white sand was lifted from the bottom of the sea during the construction of the Malta Freeport offshore zone and was poured onto the rocky shore. It offers sunbeds and umbrellas for rent.
  • Peter's Pool is a small bay of a rather interesting shape on the outside of Marsaxlokk Bay, where there is a very cozy and sparsely populated rocky beach.
