Pretty Bay Beach Travel Guide
Pretty Bay Beach — one of the few beaches in the southeastern part of Malta in the port city Birzebbuga.
The beach deserves attention for many reasons: it is surrounded by beautiful buildings. The beach is wide and accommodates everyone (there is a place for families with children and for active friendly companies), in addition, it is located at a distance from noisy tourist areas.
This is an artificial sandy beach: the rocky coast of Birzebbuga Bay was covered with sand raised from the seabed during the construction of the Malta Freeport offshore zone. Thanks to these works, in comparison with other Maltese beaches, Pretty Bay Beach is quite large and spacious.
Its length is about 200 meters, and its width varies from 20 to 50 meters.
The sand on Preity Bay has a light shade, it is often called white. The sand is fine and soft, quite comfortable for walking on it and for sunbathing.
In addition to tourists, the beach of Pretty Bay enjoys the well-deserved love of local residents, so there are often a lot of people here on weekends.
The coastline is cleaned on a daily basis, so it is always clean here.
The main disadvantage of the beach is the fact that the port of Malta International Freeport is very clearly visible from the coast of Pretty Bay. Such a large industrial facility naturally does not add picturesqueness and exoticism to the beach, but some visitors note that it is very interesting to watch how large cargo ships enter and exit the port.
